Finding out that you have mold in your home is not always easy. You might suspect it from the dank smell, or from strangely colored spots, but most of us don’t have access to a laboratory to make sure if that is the fact. If you want to take a sample, did you know that you can use a couple of household items to perform a sampling to send into a lab for testing? Most of us have a roll of scotch tape and a sealable plastic bag at home, and using these, you can get a sample that will help a lab to identify whether or not you have an infestation, how severe it is and what type of mold you are dealing with.
So, to perform the sampling, pull off a stretch of a few inches of scotch tape, press it firmly against the surface where you believe mold is growing, pull it off carefully and tape it to the inside of the bag. Seal the bag up and mail it to a lab, and you should get a reply with all the information you need to make an informed decision on the next steps to take.
